The renovation of the public areas at Carlsbad by the Sea reimagines the property as a relaxed, vibrant destination rooted in the coastal character of Southern California. The project included a complete transformation of the lobby, the adaptive reuse of an existing outbuilding into a new dining space and renovations to the outdoor spaces and pool area. Throughout, a palette of ocean blues, sandy neutrals, and coastal greens is layered with warm oak, tactile upholstery and custom wallcoverings. Millwork detailing and playful artwork create a fresh yet approachable hospitality experience. Varied lounge settings encourage guests to gather, relax, and connect. The result is a cohesive indoor-outdoor environment that celebrates Carlsbad’s beachside setting while giving the property a distinct, contemporary SoCal identity.
